 Aromatherapy is all the rage these days. Although some people may find it a little too much for their taste. The burning candles or essential oils from the diffuser.

But playdough is something that we all are very comfortable with because we all had itin our childhood. So this nostalgic feeling is very calming. So here in this article, we have a prepared something very special for you.

This is a recipe for making a play dough which can be used as aromatherapy. This is a DIY (do it yourself) recipe because it very easy to make. So let us get started right away!

INGREDIENTS WE NEED TO MAKE STRESS-FREE PLAY DOUGH

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup of salt
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 ½ tablespoon of olive or any other cooking oil
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 6-8 drops of any essential oil
  • any food coloring

STEP 1

The first step you have to do is take a sauce pan and putall the dry ingredients present in the list above. Those dry ingredients are 2 teaspoons of tartar, 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup of salt. And mix them together.

STEP 2

After mixing all the dry ingredients, now the second step isto mix all the wet ingredients except for the essential oil in the saucepan. 1½ tablespoons of olive oil, 1 cup water and add a few drops of coloring food too.

Since the scent of lavender is so soothing, we suggest adding purple color. This will make it more soothing and pretty. But if you are allergic to food colors, you can drop it or use any natural alternative for it.

STEP 3

Now the next step is to heat up all the ingredients. Put the saucepan on the stove top. Heat should be around medium-low. What you need is the mixture to kind of clump and form into the shape of a ball.

Until it takes that state, keep stirring but be very careful because it could take 5 or even less than 5 minutes.

STEP 4

Prepare a parchment paper in advance. After you get the desired result from step 3, now let the mixture cool down.

To do that, take out the dough which is in the shape of a ball now and rest it on the parchment paper. Let it cool down for a few minutes.

Do not let the dough get too cold because warm dough is a good sensory experience, but be careful and do not burn yourself.

STEP 5

Step 5 is to add the essential into the dough. Whichever Essential oil you picked, add a few drops of it. Now because the strengths of different oils are different, the amount you are going to put in the dough, depends on the oil you chose.

So we suggest you to drop 6 drops in the beginning and start kneading the dough. Then add more if you feel the need.

STEP 6

Your aromatherapy play dough is ready. So be free to play with it and release your stress away. The soothing scent, the squishy feeling in your hand, all this is so relaxing.
