The medical term for the nosebleed is epistaxis. It’s Basically just bleeding from your nose. When our nasal membranes get dry, they eventually crack and blood flows out.

So usually it happens when the climate is hot or dry. Or when the weather fluctuates between warm and dry. Like heaters in our houses in cold weather.

People who are most likely to get it are those who are on any kind of medications of blood clotting preventers or anti-inflammatory. In This condition, even slight traumas could be a reason for nosebleed.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF NOSEBLEED

  • The amount of blood vessels in nose is quite large, so even a slight injury to the nose ends up in nosebleed.
  • The position of our nose on the face is also quite vulnerable, so the chances of your nose getting hit is high.
  • It happens because of some infection too.
  • Allergic or non-allergic rhinitis.
  • Some people take blood thinning medications.
  • High blood pressure(hypertension)
  • Hormonal changes
  • Inherited bleeding problem
  • Nosebleed is also a symptom of tumor.
  • Alcohol abuse

HOW TO STOP NOSEBLEED

Nosebleed tends to scare most people, especially if it is very rare for someone. But it is not that serious of an issue. It is easily treatable wherever you are, home or public place.

Here is a step to step guide on how to stop a nosebleed.

  • KEEP YOUR CALM:

It can be scary a little, but the more you get nervous, the more you will bleed. So just try to relax and stay calm.

  • SIT UP:

Many People lie down to stop the bleeding but is not the right way. You should keep your heart above your head. So do not lie down or keep standing up, instead situp.

  • LEAN FORWARD:

Do not lean your head backward to stop the bleeding. It will result in blood dripping down the throat. So lean a little bit forward.

  • CLOSE YOUR NOSTRIL:

Pinch your nose close using your index finger and thumb.Hold it for around 5-10 minutes and in the meantime, keep breathing through your nose. Through this, the part of your nose that is bleeding will have some pressure on it, and it will stop bleeding.

  • APPLY ICE:

Afterwards, take some ice pack or ice which is wrapped in a towel and apply it to your nose and cheeks lightly.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF NOSEBLEED

  • DO NOT PICK OUR NOSE:

Don’t pick on your nose, blow it hard or rub it too hard.

  • TRIM FINGERNAILS:

Trim your nails short, because we can pick on our nose even when we are not aware of it like sleeping.

  • KEEP THE NOSE LINING MOIST:

Try To keep the inside of your nose moist. You can do this by applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly daily because dry nose causes nosebleed.

  • USE A HUMIDIFIER:

Air Of our surroundings, even of our house is dry. This can cause your nostrils to become dry. To solve this issue, use a humidifier.

  • DO NOT SMOKE:

Smoking Makes the inside of the nose dry, so stop smoking.
